The Infielder Magazine, Weekly
Baseball Review, was published in
"Cooperstown, New York, Home of
Baseball" by The Daily Star, a daily
newspaper in Oneonta, NY. The August
18, 1995 issue pays tribute to the late Mickey
Mantle who passed away 5
days earlier, on August 13. The cover
features two pictures of Mickey Mantle
one when he was young in uniform, and
the other tipping his cap at the Dallas
hospital press conference. The Free
Copies were gone minutes after they
were put out.
The "Farewell, Mickey
1931-1995" coverage starts on page 3,
picturing pallbearers Hank Bauer, Bobby Murcer, Bil Skowon, and Johnny
Blanchard. Two articles "Admirers
recall Mantle's grace in final days"
and "Mantle wasn't the best ever, but
he was exciting"
Page 4, features an article on Mickey Mantle's organ donor trading cards,
and pictures his son, Danny Mantle
holding up a card. Page 5, is
an article titled "From Oklahoma to
larger than life" picturing Mickey
Mantle with a bat, posing for
photographers in 1961. Page 8, "Costa's
Eulogy Touching Humorous."
