Kent was a manufacture and distributor of discount store sporting goods
from the late 1960's to the 1980's.
Established in 1959, the Kent Sporting
Goods Company, inc. was originally
based in Batesville, Mississippi and
founded as a subsidiary of the Eagle
Rubber Company, a manufacturer of
football gear, helmets and uniforms. In
1959 the company moved to New London,
Ohio. Products included; life vests,
lawn games and accessories, Tether ball
sets, basketballs, back boards, Golf
bags, football equipment, baseballs,
softballs, and baseball gloves.
In 1983, under new ownership, Kent began to acquire the assets of many
popular water sports corporations, and
Kent Sporting Goods Company, became a
major player in the water sports and
outdoor markets. The baseball gloves
the company distributed were imported
from Korea or Tiawan.
